Please sign our petition to parliament to make defibrillators cheaper by removing the VAT! All grass roots and voluntary clubs would get a 20% saving off the cost of life saving equipment!
Small business that are not VAT registered, those that are VAT exempt including most voluntary/community/charities would all need to pay the extra 20%. Removing tax on these items would mean the difference between a grassroots football club. For example having to raise £800, rather than £1,000.
Local sports clubs including football, rugby, tennis, boxing etc, all paying extra 20%.
If we get to 1,000 signatures
Financial Fortress will pay for a defibrillator and cabinet (£1,800 ish) to be installed and accessible to the community. Local to our HQ.
If we get to 10,000 signatures
Financial Fortress will pay for 2 defibrillators and cabinets (£1,800 each ish) to be installed and accessible to the community. A Chester community drawn by ballot.
If we get to 100,000 signatures
Financial Fortress will pay for 3 defibrillators and cabinets (£1,800 each ish) to be installed and accessible to the community. A Chester community drawn by ballot.
The defibrillator itself is around £1,000 (including VAT at 20%) where it is being kept inside a building. To be publically accessible, it needs to be in a locked cabinet and available by calling 999. The cabinet needs to be a specialist design including visually obvious, a combination code to access and have power (to ensure the defib battery remains topped up). What people often don’t know – it also has to be HEATED! If you keep a defib in a non heated cabinet the extremes of temperature in the UK will ruin the battery.
Sign our petition to parliament now and help save the lives of more people who suffer heart attacks! Thank you for your support.
